Wildcats Hockey set to open 2009-2010 season

November 24th, 2009

AR-WILDCAT-26-R_GFINALLY!!!!! Hockey is back and so is your Wildcat Hockey Club for what could be a historic 2009-2010 season at the Shove. Its been 9 long months since the Cats loss to Greece Athena in the Frozen Four in Utica last March. However, with the start of a new season comes new optimism that this West Genesee team can do some things no other Wildcats Hockey team has ever done before. The Wildcats are seeking their third consecutive CNYHL League title, Section 3 title, State Regional Title, and a return trip to the Frozen Four in Utica next March.

For these lofty dreams and goals to be realized, the Wildcats will have their work cut out for them as they compete in arguably the state’s toughest league. On top of this, are some very intriguing, tough non-conference games against state powers Fairport, Massena, Potsdam, Saratoga, and Suffern not to mention tomorrow night’s season opening home game against the defending Division 2 State Champion New Hartford Spartans in what should be a real heavyweight battle set for 7:30pm.

In the three preseason games played last week, the Cats looked every bit the veteran team they are showing good speed and puck movement. There is no question this team has much work to do but there is a sense that they can be a very good team this year. As always, the big concern is avoiding the injury bug as well as the flu bug this season and getting the proper rest and diet. Those things aside, this team is primed to have a big year and tomorrow night is the perfect opportunity to send an early season message to the rest of the league and non-conference opponents that this Wildcats team is going to be very tough to beat.

Good Luck to the Wildcats this season and lets get out to the Shove for Tuesday’s opener against New Hartford. We drop the puck at 7:30pm. GO C A T S  CATS, CATS, CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

skaneateles @ new hartford [02.25.09]

March 2nd, 2009

Wednesday night was not only the first round of sectionals, but also the end of a Division 2 team’s season. The Skaneateles Lakers traveled to New Hartford to take on the Spartans, and put up one of their best fights all season. The Spartans, ranked first in the state for Division Two, were the team with the upper hand, but did not get easy goals. The first came with 2:07 left in the first period, scored by Tommy Fiorentino, who is one of the star Spartans this year along with Mike Zalewski. The score remained 1-0 until the beginning of the second, when New Hartford’s Alex Fukes scored a shorthanded goal, followed quickly by Skaneateles’ Lex Johnson. That would be the only Skaneateles goal of the night. With no more than a second left, Fiorentino again scored, moving the score to 3-1. The Lakers put up a good fight, and goalie Trevor Diamond presented himself as one of the hardest goalies to get past that New Hartford had faced all season. The Lakers had their chances, but couldn’t find the back of the net, and defeat was officially served when Fiorentino, completing a hat trick, scored an empty netter with 1:07 left in the third. The game finished out in a 4-1 New Hartford lead, advancing the Spartans to the next round and leaving Skaneateles at the end of a long season and filled with disappointment after a stellar four overtime win against Rome Free Academy.

Yesterday, New Hartford met the Corcoran Cougars at the War Memorial in Syracuse, and proceeded to completely dominate the Cougars in a disbelieving 9-0 victory. The Cougars played their regular game the first period, but after 3 goals in the second (all within a minute and a half), Corcoran seemed to give up, and allowed 6 more goals in the third. New Hartford had four shorthanded goals against the Cougars, aided by the ejection of Corcoran’s Casey Eccles and by a four minute power play after two Corcoran players took a seat in the box after throwing punches in a fight. Zalewski had a four goal game, and though the Cougars are a strong team, New Hartford was just simply better, and it showed. The Spartans will face Webster Thomas (Section 5) next. Also, congratulations to West Genesee on their 3-2 win over B’Ville yesterday.

Good luck to both New Hartford and West Genesee in their upcoming games, represent Section 3 well!

skaneateles vs. RFA [02.20.09]

February 21st, 2009

“I cannot handle a shootout.”

These five words echoed through Allyn Arena last night as the overtime count continued to increase. In a game of true athleticism, both the Rome Free Academy Black Knights and the Skaneateles Lakers showed the teeming stands of fans what high school hockey could really be.

The first period remained scoreless until two minutes left, as RFA’s junior defenseman Matt DeMatteo scored the first goal of the night. Followed closely in the second was another RFA goal, this time by Dustin Frankey, a senior forward. Not even thirty seconds after the second RFA goal, Skaneateles junior forward Sean Cooney pulled the first Laker goal of the night off a pass from junior defenseman Seth Weiss. The second finished in a 2-1 RFA lead, and the Skaneateles fan section was getting restless. The third period began, and despite numerous opportunities for both teams, the Black Knights remained in the lead. With the minutes slowly counting down, and the Lakers still down a goal, anticipation and worry were both running high on the Lakers side of the rink. But with 1:36 left to go, Skaneateles’ Kyle Christine received a pass from Lex Johnson and in a tense few seconds, had the Laker fan base going wild. RFA failed to answer to Christine’s late goal, and the period buzzed out with a 2-2 tie.

No one could of predicted what came next. In an epic four overtimes, the Knights and the Lakers battled ruthlessly for the puck and for that increasingly elusive goal. Finally, with the scoreboard reading 2-2, period 7, Christine and Johnson again brought the Lakers to victory; with about a minute and a half remaining, Christine grabbed a pass from Johnson and fired the puck straight past RFA’s Mike Endres. The crowd went wild as the entire Laker roster jumped the bench and created a huge dog pile directly in front of the student section. After four overtimes, each lasting seven and a half minutes, the Skaneateles Lakers prevailed, although it was far from an easy victory. Rome Free Academy definitely gave the Lakers a run for their money, never letting up and never allowing easy goals or easy passes. Both goalies, Trevor Diamond for Skaneateles and Mike Endres for RFA, defended their respective net in one of the best displays of goalie work all season. The heart and hard work of both teams was recognized recently as multiple members from each team were rewarded in this year’s All-Star selections.

For Rome Free Academy, senior Dustin Frankey earned First Team honors as a forward; sophomore TJ Reilley earned Second Team honors as a forward and Kyle Williams, Max Bartell and Marco Dominic all earned an Honorable Mention.

For Skaneateles, senior Lex Johnson earned First Team honors as a defenseman; senior Ryan Callahan earned Second Team honors as a defenseman, Kyle Christine earned Second Team honors as a forward and the Honorable Mention went to Packy Jones, Patrick Emmer, Zach Augustine and Trevor Diamond.

Both teams deserved a win last night, but only one would come out on top, and the Lakers proved that they were that team. As RFA’s season ends, the Lakers will travel to New Hartford on Wednesday night to take on the Spartans, who are currently ranked number one in the state for Division 2. New Hartford beat out Cortland-Homer last night 8-2. Also on Wednesday night, the Corcoran Cougars will travel to Cazenovia to take on the D2/East Lakers. Corcoran recently defeated Whitesboro 7-2 in a night dominated, as always, by the Eccles and Cathers brothers, and Cazenovia took no prisoners as they swiftly beat the Solvay Bearcats 5-0. Wednesday is definitely bound to be another night of intense hockey, as it is the second round of sectionals. Good luck to all of Section 3!

skaneateles vs. fulton [02.13.09]

February 17th, 2009

Friday the 13th brought nothing but good luck to the Skaneateles Lakers, as they rapidly took the Fulton Red Raiders through a whirlwind of a game. Not even thirty seconds after the first puck dropped, Fulton’s Trevor Trovato slipped it past Skaneateles’ Trevor Diamond, starting a chain reaction of Fulton goals: Ryan Kesterke at 9:07 and then Chad Smith two minutes later. The first period was Fulton-dominated, and many Laker fans were wondering what had happened to the team they had seen defeat Fulton barely two weeks ago. Juniors Dylan Van Holtz and Sean Cooney quickly reminded the fans what they could do with a pair of goals; Van Holtz’s coming at 5:59 and Cooney’s with seven seconds left in the first. Both teams left the ice, the scoreboard lit up with a 3-2 Fulton lead, Fulton’s last lead for the remainder of the game. Skaneateles senior Patrick Emmer tied up the game off a pass from freshman Brendan Major with 3:45 remaining, trailed by Packy Jones, who shot off a goal at 2:24. The second ended with Skaneateles up 5-3, and the stands collectively took in a deep breath, as this was the team they remembered. The game picked up again, and the hits started escalating as swiftly as Fulton’s frustration did. The Raiders started to get desperate after two additional Skaneateles goals, resulting in two Fulton players getting kicked out of the game. For anyone who attended the last game between the Lakers and the Raiders, this ejection perfectly paralleled the occurrences of the previous duel. Fulton got reckless, started making stupid moves, and ended up with pointless penalties and even more pointless ejections. For the Lakers, a win against Fulton meant more than glory, it meant completely surpassing Solvay in ranking and earning the second seed in Division 2/West. If the Raiders had kept their cool, they could of easily prevented Skaneateles from gaining the lead over Solvay. But the game ended with 37 seconds left as sophomore Tom Jones notched the seventh goal and left the score at 7-3.

The Fulton game was also important for six Laker players. Ryan Callahan, Lex Johnson, Josh Rathgeb, Kyle Christine, Patrick Emmer and Drake Hill were honored Friday night for their dedication to the Skaneateles hockey program and for their relentless hustle all season. Senior night for the Lakers meant the glass scattered with signs, half the student section decked out in game jerseys and an intensity level that visibly reached the players on both teams. The Lakers host Rome Free Academy (12-10-2) on Friday for their first sectional game.

Also on Friday night, New Hartford (21-2, ranked first in the state for Division 2) goes against Cortland-Homer and Solvay faces off against Cazenovia (18-2-1, ranked third in the state for Division 2, after Queensbury). This coming Thursday, Corcoran, who just recently entered the state rankings at number 10, hosts Whitesboro at Meachem. Both Thursday and Friday nights include huge games for Division 2 and though there are definitely teams with the upper hand, the post-season is always a place for upsets. Most notably for many would be Skaneateles beating Clinton last year for the first time in over four years and going on to win sectionals for the first time in over a decade. Good luck to all of Section 3 in their upcoming games.

skaneateles vs. obay [02.11.09]

February 16th, 2009

Coming off a satisfying victory over Cortland-Homer, the Skaneateles Lakers continued their winning streak last Wednesday night as they hosted the Ontario Bay Storm. The game started off quick with a Skaneateles goal from Kyle Christine, assisted by Zach Augustine, at 13:09 in the period. Five minutes later, Skaneateles’ Packy Jones scored unassisted, swiftly moving the score to 2-0. With minutes to go, the Lakers’ Lex Johnson went to box on a double minor call, and gave the Storm three minutes of opportunities. They finally made it worthwhile with 30 seconds to go in the first, and the period finished in a close 2-1 Skaneateles lead. The second period started much like the first, with an early goal, this time in Ontario Bay’s favour. The game was tied at 2-2 for the majority of the second until Jones again scored, followed quickly by Christine’s second of the night. The Lakers leading 4-2 and the clock at 3:54, Jones pushed the score to the period ending 5-2, earning his second hat trick of the season. The game was starting to look like a typical Skaneateles/Ontario Bay matchup, complete with Laker dominance, but the Storm retaliated with another goal in the middle of the third, although they were held down for the rest of the period, despite multiple chances. With two minutes remaining to go, and the scored 5-3, Laker captain Ryan Callahan scored the last goal of the night on a power play, leaving the scoreboard at the final 6-3. Though Ontario Bay has never really been a powerhouse in the league, they have somewhat loosened themselves of that title, winning a fair amount of games, taking both Corcoran and Skaneateles into overtimes this winter. The Storm, ranked No. 6 in Division 2/West (ahead of IHC, Fulton and Central Square), has certainly shown a bit more strength this year than years previous.

skaneateles @ cortland-homer [02.07.09]

February 10th, 2009

Although it was senior night for the Cortland-Homer Golden Eagles, Saturday night was all about the Skaneateles Lakers. In three periods, the Lakers showed their true colours, and the huge fan base that showed up to support them only solidified the fact that no matter how badly Corcoran beat them, or how badly other coaches talked about them, Skaneateles would always be backed by more than a hundred screaming Lakers. After an early first period goal from sophomore Dan Tarolli, the score was 1-0 Skaneateles, and would remain that way until deep into the third. Despite two refs who seemed to be having extreme difficulty calling anything on the home team, the Lakers kept the Eagles in their own defensive zone. Senior defensemen Lex Johnson and Ryan Callahan played a strong defensive game, helping goalie Trevor Diamond to his eventual shutout. The first ending in a 1-0 Laker lead, and the second ending in much the same way, Cortland-Homer started playing harder and faster, but still were not able to get the puck where it counted, and the Lakers’ impressive offensive and defensive game was starting to pay off. The Eagles eventually pulled their goalie with little more than a minute to go, and quickly thereafter, Skaneateles senior assistant captain Kyle Christine slid in an empty netter from just behind the blue line. As the score moved to 2-0, the crowd getting louder and more crazed, Christine again scored off a pass from sophomore Packy Jones, this time on Cortland-Homer’s Brett Kash. The game rapidly finished out in a 3-0 Laker win, and the Lakers moved their league record to 11-3 (13-8-1 overall) and pushed themselves closer to edging out No. 2 Solvay. The Lakers will play Ontario Bay at home on Wednesday, and Fulton at home on Friday. O-Bay will be traveling to Allyn Arena after facing what is bound to be a tough game against the hustle and quick skating of Cortland-Homer tomorrow night. Fulton will be coming to the Lakers’ home ice fresh off a 9-3 loss to Division 2/East’s Hamilton. If the Lakers can pull off two more wins, they will be in second place for Division 2/West and will finish off what will be a successful season. Friday night is senior night, celebrating the hard work and dedication of Skaneateles seniors Ryan Callahan, Lex Johnson, Drake Hill, Patrick Emmer, Josh Rathgeb and Kyle Christine. Following this Friday night’s game, the Lakers take a week long break and face their first sectional game next Friday. Good luck to the Lakers and all of Section 3!

skaneateles vs. solvay [02.02.09]

February 5th, 2009

Monday night at Allyn Arena was a defining moment for everyone involved in this year’s Skaneateles boys hockey team. After beating out Fulton last Friday, the Lakers were gaining more of their footing back, and with Monday’s win against No. 2 seed Solvay, it looks as though the Lakers are back for good. With a scoreless and mostly uneventful first period, the game looked as though it could go either way. Solvay, bearing an overall record of 13-6-2 and having names like Tim Burgess, Josh Ginestro and Ryan Chapman on the roster, could easily of taken this game from the minute it started. But with an overconfident coach and sloppy overall play, the Lakers stole the game right out from under the Bearcats’ skates. Skaneateles’ first opportunity came when Solvay’s co-captain and senior defenseman Nick Downs took a 7 and a half minute misconduct call with about ten minutes remaining in the second. With 2:16 waiting to go, Dylan Van Holtz beat out Solvay’s Ryan Bonk and scored Skaneateles’ first of the night. Van Holtz, a junior, has been a key asset to the Lakers. His determination and attitude has helped the Lakers tremendously this year, and his 11 goals and 4 assists so far this season will only go up by the time sectionals come around. The period ended in a 1-0 Laker advantage. Solvay was quick to respond, and two minutes into the third, senior co-captain Josh Ginestro notched the only Bearcat goal, assisted by Ryan Chapman and the league’s leader in points, Tim Burgess. Not even thirty seconds after Ginestro’s goal, Skaneateles’ Jake Bird scored, assists from Drake Hill and Zach Augustine. The scoreboard reading 2-1 in Skaneateles’ favour, the game got increasingly heated. Both Skaneateles and Solvay players were down on the ice repeatedly, with Solvay seeming to get more desperate as the minutes clicked down. Lex Johnson, in one of his best games all season, scored the third Laker goal of the night at 2:43 on the clock, and the response from the crowd along with the team’s celebration was unrivaled. The period finished out in a 3-1 Laker win. This win, coupled with last night’s 5-3 win against Watertown IHC will certainly leave a good impression on every person affiliated with Section 3 hockey. After a depressing mid-season slump, the Lakers have come back hard and strong, winning the past three of their games. The first contest between these two teams came in December, culminating in Solvay walking away with a 3-0 victory. Skaneateles will next face Cortland-Homer on Saturday. Beating them in a closer than close overtime game in the beginning of January, a win against the No. 4 seed will ensure the success of the rest of the Lakers’ regular season. After the Cortland-Homer game, the Lakers face Ontario Bay next Wednesday and Fulton the following Friday. If Skaneateles wins their next three games, they will gain the No. 2 seed, either beating Solvay or tying them for it, and will grab themselves a home sectional game. Solvay faces Fulton this Friday, and Corcoran the following Wednesday. The best of luck to both the Bearcats and the Lakers on a strong finish for the 2008-09 season.

skaneateles @ fulton [01.30.09]

February 2nd, 2009

Last Friday night, the Skaneateles Lakers reminded everyone what they were made of when they left Fulton Ice Arena with a 7-2 victory. The Lakers have been in a spirit-diminishing slump for quite some time, but skated onto the ice that night with the familiar intensity and heart that all the Skaneateles fans immediately recognised. Taking the Raiders into the second period after a scoreless first, the Lakers rapidly gained back their normal on ice confidence, and it was evident to all in the rink that night. The scoreboard reading 7:11, Fulton’s Dylan Holden scored unassisted, but the Lakers retaliated within two minutes as Dylan Van Holtz hit the net off a quick pass from Packy Jones. Not more than two minutes later, senior defensemen Lex Johnson scored his second of the season, changing the scoreboard to 2-1. Barely a minute after his first goal, Johnson slipped another one in but before it could be counted, the official (mistakenly) called the puck dead. Before the Lakers could ruminate too heavily on the bad call, Skaneateles senior and assistant captain Kyle Christine moved the score to 3-1 after a quick shot past Fulton goalie Kevin Niver off a pass from fellow senior Drake Hill. After Christine’s goal, the Lakers picked it up, and skated the fastest and hardest they looked to have skated all year. With a minute and a half left in the period, the Lakers seemed to remember what they were all about, and with almost five seconds remaining, junior Sean Cooney received the puck from senior Patrick Emmer and notched another Lakers goal. The second period ending in a satisfying 4-1 lead, the Lakers and Raiders left the ice. The third period really began when Christine again scored, this time unassisted, followed shortly by Cooney’s second of the night. With a total of five unanswered goals in their face, Fulton’s Chad Smith stepped up and slid the puck past Skaneateles’ Trevor Diamond. So far that night, Diamond had not seen much of the puck, as the Lakers had mostly kept it on the other end of the ice. With hardly two minutes left in the third, Fulton snagged themselves both a double minor and the ejection of two additional players. With one Fulton player back-checking Skaneateles’ Johnson and the other punching Skaneateles’ Christine, it was clear that the widening gap on the scoreboard was getting to some of the Fulton players. The Lakers used the penalties to their advantage, and Christine completed a hat trick, leaving the score at the final of 7-2. Friday night was a big night for the Lakers, and tonight they will host Solvay. Tonight’s game is a reschedule of last Wednesday’s original game time, but due to a snow day in the Skaneateles School District it was cancelled. The Bearcats are a dominating force in Division 2/West, falling just 5 points behind the league-leading Corcoran. A win tonight will definitely be a positive indicator for the rest of Skaneateles’ regular season. The Lakers will have to stop Solvay’s Tim Burgess, who is currently leading the league in points, with a season total of 58 so far. The first match up between these two teams was back in December, at the Coliseum, and Solvay skated off with a 3-0 victory. With the recent win against Fulton, the Lakers have a confidence boost and will hopefully play the same game they played against the Raiders. If they have the same heart and the same drive as they did Friday night, tonight is sure to be a good contest of hockey.

skaneateles vs. corcoran [01.23.09]

January 27th, 2009

The second match up of Skaneateles (9-8-1) and Corcoran (13-3-0) was another important league game, but now more so for the Lakers than the Cougars. This time, the now full strength Corcoran was playing on the ice of Allyn Arena, but that didn’t seem to stop the Cougars as they lunged for a 7-1 victory. This loss was one of the worst in recent Skaneateles history, to a team that they had mostly dominated in the past years. The first action of the first period came with 2:40 left on the clock, with Skaneateles senior Kyle Christine and Corcoran senior Casey Eccles both taking a seat in the box on a coincidental call for roughing. Barely a minute after, sophomore Derrick Eccles scored Corcoran’s first goal unassisted. Without having much time to celebrate, Eccles joined his brother in the box on a slashing call. The Lakers failed to retaliate on Eccles’ unanswered goal, even with plenty of chances on the power play. As the first period ended, it seemed the Lakers’ intensity finished out as well. The second period started with Corcoran’s Dalton Powless in the box on a cross checking penalty, and at 8:25 in the period, Skaneateles’ junior defenseman Zach Augustine scored the only Laker goal of the night off a quick pass from line mate Seth Weiss. The Cougars, never failing to impress, quickly regained the lead for the last time that night. As the penalties piled up, three each for Corcoran and Skaneateles, the Lakers seemed to lose the fire that is usually seen from them on the ice. All drive seemed to be lost for good as Casey Eccles, earning an eventual hat trick, scored with 4:24 left in the period, moving the score to 3-1. Thirty seconds into the third period, Corcoran again scored, and at this goal, it really was the beginning of the end for the Lakers. With Dylan Van Holtz in the box, Corcoran easily took advantage of the power play and pushed the score to 5-1. More penalties took over, with Skaneateles’ Weiss and Corcoran’s Dillon Brown both in the box, and then Christine and Corcoran’s Nick Ferlenda both in the box on another interference coincidental. The Cougars’ Edmund Cathers scored the 6th goal of the night off a pass from Casey Eccles, leading to a goalie switch from Skaneateles with 6:05 remaining to go in the third. The goalie switch, from Trevor Diamond to Scott Bruening, was to no avail, as Corcoran again scored, leaving the scoreboard at the final 7-1. Needless to say, Friday night was not a good night in Allyn Arena. Corcoran proved that they truly deserve the No. 1 seed in Division 2/West with their smooth transitions, their heart and their deft skating skills. Outshooting the Lakers 28-17, a rarity for the Lakers who usually outshoot almost everyone, Corcoran played hard and fast, and didn’t let up once during the entire game. Whether this was because they regained their two Junior B players back, or because they simply just wanted it more, it’s hard to tell. Skaneateles, starting off the regular season strong, has seemed to slip into a deepening slump, and it is unclear as to what exactly the reason is. The Lakers did lose more than a few key players to college and prep schools, but many players this year have more than stepped up. With Solvay on Wednesday and Fulton on Friday, one can only hope Skaneateles can move past the disappointing loss to Corcoran and bring themselves back to the team they have always been, and the team that lies somewhere deep in each player. Said team, however, has been missing for more than a few games, and time will only tell when Skaneateles will start playing like Skaneateles again, a team that forever has had drive and passion. The outcome of the Solvay game will be a very good indicator of how the rest of Skaneateles’ season will go. For the sake of not only the coaches and players, but the faithful fans, every Laker is praying for some wins or, at the very least, some games that have a glimpse of the old Lakers, because as of right now the Lakers seem unable to grasp the indomitable spirit they possessed in the beginning of their season.

skaneateles @ christian brothers academy [01.20.09]

January 21st, 2009

The Skaneateles Lakers breathed in deep Tuesday night, and left Tsha`Hon`nonyen`dakhwa (otherwise known as Onondaga Nation Arena) with their first win in two weeks. Losing four consecutive games, three non-league (Willy South, Canandaigua and Sweet Home, respectively) and one league, to the Division 2/West-leading Corcoran, definitely put a damper on the spirit that usually consumes the Lakers both on and off the ice. But Tuesday night, the Lakers skated against CBA and brought home a 3-1 victory. With an early goal by Packy Jones, the Lakers owned the first period, leading the Brothers into a scoreless second. Midway into the third, Skaneateles junior Noah Allyn scored his third of the season. With the score 2-0, and the Brothers behind, Skaneateles goalie Trevor Diamond excelled in a short period of constant shooting. Some shots were scrappy, some shots would of gone into the net had Diamond not been on the top of his game. Diamond, a freshman, has been on the team since 7th grade, and has finally risen to his starting position. Many are skeptical of a starting freshman goalie, but when looking at his stats (269 saves this season in 686 minutes, 32 goals against and an current GAA of 2.10) and actually see him in play, all skepticism is lost. With the loss of last year’s starter Alex Richichi to Proctor Academy, Diamond has more than stepped up, and Skaneateles has him to thank for keeping them where they are. Despite Diamond’s athleticism, CBA’s Cam Sylvia slipped in a goal, but that was the last goal CBA would see for the rest of the game. Shortly after Sylvia’s goal, the Lakers’ Jones again scored, his 13th of the season, and left the score at its eventual 3-1. Finishing out the period with a few careless penalties, both the Lakers and the Brothers looked a little slow, but the intensity of Skaneateles will definitely be rising this coming week. The Lakers will be hosting a full-strength Corcoran this Friday night, and if the last game between these two was any indicator of Corcoran’s almost flawless transitions, Friday night will surely be even more of a battle. Skaneateles remains No. 3 in Division 2/West, behind Tim Burgess-led Solvay and the dominance of the Cathers brothers from Corcoran. A win on Friday will be an amazing confidence booster to help the Lakers ride out the rest of their regular season.
